Was at a happy hour the other day and found a new (to me) brew on tap, so that of course meant I had to try it. Ommegang was the wonderful producer, out of Cooperstown, NY (also the home of the National Baseball Hall of Fame). The beer proper was their Rare Vos Amber Ale.
Very nice. Matches the name by color, light hops, some herbs & fruit and nice & smooth. ABV is 6.5%. Totally worth checking it out if you’re an amber beer fan, or just a beer fan, in general! Cheers.
There is a great pizza place in DC that has expanded and now has several locations — Matchbox. I’ve been to the one in Merrifield/Mosaic District recently.
Before enjoying their delicious pizza, I had to try their wine on tap. It’s not available at a lot of restaurant so I couldn’t turn it down. I scanned the menu and it was a tough decision. Hot as heck outside, freezing cold AC inside.
I opted for the Gotham Project Zin. Nice nose all around. Fruity, very fun for a wine on tap.
My friend arrived later and we were ordering some nice pizza and we opted for a white to accompany a prosciutto and fig pizza. We opted for a white on tap. We went with the Tangent Sauvignon Blanc. Very fruity and fresh, perfect for the meal.
Such a fun new way to enjoy wine. Can’t say that it was than much different than a normal glass, but simple changes and simple pleasures!
Washington, DC (April 10, 2013) — Upper 80s, early April…last week we had sub-freezing temps at night and wanted to sit by the fire. If we have this weather now, what’s it going to be like in July and August?
With the warm temps, it was high time for post-work happy hour, aka beer:thirty, outside. A great place to take advantage of the beautiful weather is in Cleveland Park at the Cleveland Park Bar & Grill. Roof top deck, happy hour specials, TVs, good atmosphere and Metro accessible.
They have a great variety of beer on tap (though of course the really good stuff isn’t on special, but there could be worse things in life). I sacrificed and had some Fat Tire and Magic Hat #9. On the other side of the table was Blue Moon. My friend and I just sat there for what felt like ages relaxing and enjoying the perfection of weather.
Figuratively the glass was more than half full, literally –‘Bartender…next round.’
